Brian is a fifteen-year veteran of professional fundraising and brings a solid track record and diverse set of skills to his consulting practice. He has held senior management positions with the former Fairview College and Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. In September 2003, Brian was recruited by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology to serve as Associate Vice President of Development. In that capacity, he led a talented team of 20 development professionals that consistently met and exceeded its annual and capital campaign fundraising goals. Brian is also recognized for his expertise in planned giving and has held gift planning positions with several organizations, including the University of Alberta and St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Midway through his career, Brian spent several years with DVA Navion in various roles. During that time, he worked with a broad-based group of clients spanning all areas of the not-for-profit sector. He has actively participated in and supervised many successful capital campaigns with fundraising goals ranging from $800,000 to $200 million. Brian also has hands-on experience in the establishment of several institutional planned giving programs. One of these was selected by the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy as the best planned giving program in Canada.

Brian was a faculty member at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton where he taught a gift planning course for several years. He recently completed a three-year term on the faculty of CAGP's Banff Planned Giving Course that is taught twice yearly at the Banff Centre for Management. Brian is a past National Director of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and a much-sought-after presenter at regional, provincial and national conferences.
