Margaret joined the Ross W. Marsh & Associates team in 2008 after eight years at St. Mary’s University College in Calgary, where her role was Vice-President of External Relations. Margaret was responsible for all aspects of the University College’s fund development program including major gifts, special events, direct mail and planned giving. She was also responsible for the University’s communications and advertising plans.
Margaret held a number of progressively more responsible roles at St. Mary’s, beginning as a Development Officer in 1999, assuming the role of Director of Development and Communications in 2003, and ultimately Vice President in 2005. Working with a small senior executive team at St. Mary’s, Margaret has been instrumental in raising the profile of the institution, which realized the largest increase in student enrolment of a private post-secondary institution in Alberta for three consecutive years. This growth was also reflected in the increase in donor support by doubling the University College’s annual support for operating funds. While growing the operating fund, Margaret was instrumental in establishing a solid foundation of a permanent St. Mary’s University College endowment. In 2004, Margaret led the development of the St. Mary’s University College logo and implemented a standardized plan for all communications and signage.
Prior to St. Mary’s University College, Margaret worked in fund development for one of Canada’s major political parties. In this role, Margaret coordinated national annual giving programs, direct mail appeals, highly visible Leader’s Dinners and televised national conventions.
Margaret has been a fund development professional for over 15 years and received her CFRE designation in 2003. Margaret currently serves on the Board for AFP Calgary and Area Chapter. She and her husband Brent have two children and reside in Calgary.
