Patricia has more than 20 years of experience and achievements, leading and building development and communications programs in the not-for-profit sector.
Her primary focus has been working with large complex post-secondary and healthcare institutions across Canada. Patricia has directed successful campaigns from $2million to $100million. Her first career as a news broadcaster, made effective communications an integral element for all of her work in development.
Early in her development career Patricia became Director of Development (acting) for two years at the University of Alberta. During that time she established many of the core fund development programs, including the first in-house Annual Fund appeal to alumni and the first Annual Report to Donors.
Patricia was the founding Executive Director of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton. A highlight of her nearly 7 years leading the Foundation, was directing a major gifts campaign that raised funds for the renovation and enhancement of the Paediatric Unit.
In 1998, Patricia relocated to Toronto to become President of the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre Foundation. She provided strategic direction for all development programs which included campaign planning. Patricia directed Phase One of a $100million capital campaign in support of a new hospital and Research Centre.
Recruited by Ketchum Canada, Patricia became the Senior Campaign Director for the University of Saskatchewan’s, $100millionThinking the World of our Future Campaign, providing campaign counsel, strategic direction and management support to the President, senior administration Campaign volunteers and the University Advancement team.
Patricia was presented with the opportunity to lead all aspects of a post secondary institution’s advancement programs, becoming Vice President, Advancement at Concordia University College in Edmonton. Patricia’s vision and leadership saw the expansion of Alumni Relations programs, establishing The Outstanding Alumni Award and redesign of The Concordian magazine. Successful completion of The Cornerstone of Excellence campaign and the official opening of the Hole Academic Centre were important milestones. She directed the planning and launch of the multi-media marketing campaign, You Can Do That Here, which successfully raised public awareness of Concordia as a university degree granting institution.
As Director of Development and Campaign Director at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Patricia directed all aspects of the fund development program. She led a team of senior development officers, provided strategic counsel to Campaign Cabinet and directed the implementation of the Campus Community Campaign.
Patricia has been an affirming and supportive coach and mentor to many development professionals early in their careers. She is strongly committed to the value of ongoing professional development and was the founding Vice President of the AFP Edmonton & Area Chapter, (formerly NSFRE).
