Vivian Smith has over twenty-five years of experience working with community organizations to better the human condition and build healthy communities. Vivian’s commitment to providing highly effective, ethical, and responsible fund development has positioned her as one the most successful fundraisers in British Columbia. Her collaborative, innovative and joyful approach to philanthropy has resulted in a winning track record in support of a wide range of charitable causes, including education, youth, sports, social services, health care, and arts and culture.
As principal consultant of her firm, Liberty Quest Enterprises, Vivian provides her clients with four primary services: fund development consulting, training and facilitation, communication strategies and not-for-profit organizational management. Vivian’s success as a consultant follows her experience as executive director of a BC hospital foundation, which she spent nine years guiding through rapid growth and structural change to its current position as a fundraising leader in its community. As a dedicated volunteer with extensive experience with community organizations, volunteer boards and local governments, Vivian brings a deep understanding of volunteerism and the importance of relationship-building to all fundraising initiatives, including major gift programs and capital campaigns.
Vivian’s strength as a fundraiser stems from her strong commitment to lifelong learning, training, and mentorship. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Vancouver Board of Directors.
In 2004, Vivian was one of 25 fundraisers in North America invited to attend the AFP Faculty Training Academy and is now certified to instruct at AFP training and educational sessions. She is a volunteer with the Leadership Development Program, a board development initiative of Volunteer Vancouver, providing mentorship and training to senior staff and board members of not-for-profit organizations throughout the Lower Mainland. Vivian has also been invited to become a lead instructor for the 2006 Fundraising Management Program at the BC Institute of Technology, one of the top certification programs in the field.
Vivian received her certificate in journalism from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and a management systems certificate from the BC Institute of Technology. She lives in Maple Ridge, BC. A partial list of clients with which Vivian has worked includes:
